This program develops several concepts that will help the future English teacher to face their assessment task more diligent manner. It also emphasizes concepts and techniques that give the assessment of the four language skills. The objective of this course is to develop the ability to analyze the various forms of assessment to help both teacher and students to encourage the development of communicative competence in English.

Unit 1

In this theoretical framework  we worked based on different authors theories. It will refer some aspects from assessing the English language acquisition, the definition of what assessment is, the reasons about the importance according to Brown. Moreover, it also contains the different principles of assessment based on difference authors´ researches. Also, it will include some principles and character that assessment possesses, along with the clarification of its significance for the field. At the end, this will include conclusions and personal opinions in regards to assess SLA.

Unit 2

In this task, we have to devise a rubric. A rubric is one of the most important devices in assessment, it is used to evaluate or establish learners´ progress. As there are not only one sort of rubric, it contains all the topics or aspect to evaluate in a certain evaluation, class, unit etc… A rubric is the artifact that is to determine a progress of a certain group of class or a student, and to provide opinion to them
There is more of one type of rubric, all depends on the context and what we are going to assess. Checklist, Rating scale rubric, Analytic scale, holistic rubric are the names of each one of the rubrics studied in this subject. The use of this rubrics, teachers and students can know their progress and how they are doing in the subject and provide or have feed-back. Therefore, instructors and learners will be more conscious in relation to concerning their abilities, skills, competences and weaknesses.

Unit 3

Design a rubric is vital to maintain in your brain what we are going to assess in our scholars. Therefore, the rubric design will depend on the topics that we reviewed with our students during the unit, a semester or a year. We can assess four different skills, based on the grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. 

This work helps me to understand how teachers and students can get involved into an appropriate environment, and how to create a more favorable one in order to assess correctly and successfully my students.

Unit 4

This task contains the review of the last unit that we were not able to see in detail due to the strike in the university. We work based on ICTs, and its importance in education in our context of modern society where technology is all around us. We saw which are the abilities of students and how to evaluate them using technology, social media, wikis, internet programs and software among others. This task gave me a general idea about what is the future of online assessment for the future generations.

The second task has to do with the same topic of ICTs, and how technology is involving and improving the teaching practice around the world. A c-map in which we summarize what is the new media language assessment and how it is related to traditional language assessment.
